It all depends on how long it takes for your background check to be complete. Have you already done the livescan (if you are in Cali you will most likely be given a livescan form that you will need to complete and take to either a livescan site or police department where they do fingerprints, then mail the the requesting agency). Some employers will hire you right after filling out the paper work and turning it in. But some wait until your background check has been comopleted and that can take up to 2 weeks.

i also found this information at link Yes. We conduct a standard background check on all new hires and employees transferring from another federal agency. For most positions, this is a fairly straightforward process that takes approximately three - five weeks to complete. For positions that require a higher-level "security clearance", the background investigation process is more extensive. The job announcement will indicate whether or not a position requires a security clearance. If you are selected for a position that requires a security clearance, you will receive specific guidance and instructions from us about what to expect during the investigation process.

This link is for the CDC, Centers for Disease Control. I think the OP means the CDC, Child Development Center. A PPD is just a TB skin test.

It took a week for them do do my background check when I worked at the CDC and only a couple of days to do one when I turned them in to be an FCC provider. Good luck!

This link is for the CDC, Centers for Disease Control. I think the OP means the CDC, Child Development Center. A PPD is just a TB skin test. i figured it was the child developement center one, but wanted to make sure thats why i posted my first answer. If that is what she is doing she will need to fill out her livescan form find a location (if you need one pm me for the location and hours for the one i work at).

I have an appointment with HR the 22nd to go over my background check and take a processing class, Im hoping Momx4 1/4 your right cause I need to start working like ASAP hubs left for the field for two weeks i was told to spend no more than 75 bucks on the credit card I got to order a pizza tonight and i was declined!! god i hate that word I cant wait to start workin pay off all the cards to have as backup, thank god im babysittin monday makin a couple bucks! anyone need sitting over the next few weeks im your girl!! I did google PPD and I have gotten it before I think when I started college or when I worked for a preschool back in Jersey. maybe they can give me my flu shot while im over there also, Idk if those things can mix like a bad cocktail or what but im totally askin since i have the appointment anyway.

I did google PPD and I have gotten it before I think when I started college or when I worked for a preschool back in Jersey. I think you still might have to have a current one. I had to get one done once a year. Its just the test where they stick a little liquid under your skin and then you go back 2 days later to have it read. You can't go in after Wednesday to have that done though because they can't read it since it has to be exactly 2 days later. I remember it taking them a couple of weeks to get me started working, but it wasn't too bad. As long as you get all of your stuff done as quickly as possible, you can work as soon as they get that background check back.

cool i hope it doesnt take more than two weeks cause i really wanna go home i went back in august but the hubs hasnt been back since we left in june. the PPD I get done on friday, I did it before its what ever just a waste of time basically to drive to the doc get pricked drive back for them to look at your arm like in the waiting room for a split second and send ya oon your way

me: I got hired on the spot, a week latter i had a background check, 1.5 weeks latter i started work. so really it just depends.

laurenj1 --- 15 years ago -

Vanbam --- 15 years ago -

i like working for the CDC. its fun. :) but you can be placed ANYWHERE. we have different rooms according to age. so you could be hired for shool aged children work there for a few weeks then moved to infants/preschool..ect.

laurenj1 --- 15 years ago -

I think the job they described in the interview was 3 year olds and i used to work fours but they moved me where they needed me with ratios so im totally used to where im needed I just speak a little more goo goo gaga or a little more hey your cool your 5 years old you know what im sayin! I love kids the ones that can talk to me even more there so funny =0]

I worked at Browne CDC and it literally took me 3 months from the date I was hired to start working! And no u dont need to do a livescan. They do your finger prints and everything at HR. If you havent gone to orientation you will have to do that before you start also. It took me sooo long because of one damn reference that wouldn't answer their calls or call them back. So I had to call a supervisor and have her call them. PITA! Did you fill out that long packet? It asks you if you've been out of country, dates and reasons, all your jobs for the last 7 years. all that jazz. If all your references are quick then that just speeds up the process. I had one a-hole they waited on for 2 months and I was a previous MCCS employee for 3 years. Good luck to you. I loved the job and the kids!

laurenj1 --- 15 years ago -

o god well all my refences pretty much know im in the job hunt so hopefully they answer the phones!! god i just hope i get started soon cause i cant take the out of work stuff, house wife my butt!! cant do it maybe when im older and have kids but not now i need to go go go especially when hubby is away
